Happy New Year, South Milwaukee! Despite the gloomy weather, there’s never a dull moment in this community! The cold winter months call for cozying up in the comfort of the indoors. Lucky for you (and me), there are so many fun activities in South Milwaukee that will keep you feeling dry and warm, all season long. Here are some of my favorite ways to beat the January blues:

1. Play Indoor Pickleball

Play a session of pickleball at South Milwaukee’s Premier Pickle Ball Club! This new, state-of-the-art sports club is perfect for all pickleball players, whether you’re a newbie or a pro (like me). If you’re up for the challenge, join me for my next game!

2. Sip on Some Hot Cocoa

Craving a warm, sweet treat? Stop at Better Together Cafe for an indulgent cup of cocoa (with extra whip, of course!) Their variety of hot beverage flavors is unmatched—check out their white chocolate mocha or chai tea latte if you’re in the mood for a cozy pick-me-up!

Delve into South Milwaukee History

The City of South Milwaukee has a rich history of engineering innovation and world-class mining machinery. You can learn all about the Bucyrus legacy (plus try out some of the cool interactive experiences) at the Bucyrus Museum! Don’t forget to stop by their Skyline Deli after touring the museum to grab a bite to eat and sit by the fire—it’s totally Sam Approved. Trust me, my self-proclaimed foodie status thrives throughout these chilly winter months.

4. Visit the Public Library

Explore the wonders of the South Milwaukee Public Library! Full of educational activities, crafty storytimes, and endless rows of books, the library is the perfect place to learn something new when it’s a bit too cold to be outside. Check out the library’s calendar to see what’s coming up next!

5. Learn a New Board Game

Playing board games with friends and family from the comfort of your home is a quintessential winter activity. I like to stop by South Milwaukee’s Board Game Barrister to explore the latest and greatest games to try!

Hike at Grant Park

The brisk January air is no match for this Sasquatch fur! If you’re brave enough to face the cold, trek through South Milwaukee’s beautiful trails of Grant Park. The trees may be bare, but the light blue views of Lake Michigan are as beautiful as ever. Be careful, though—the ice can make the trails a bit slippery!

Have fun exploring the community this winter! If you run into me, be sure to stop and say hi. I love my Sam Fans!
