Sam-Approved Sports in South Milwaukee (and Beyond!)
Between warmer weather, March Madness, and the motivation to get my “summer body” back, this time of year always amplifies my desire to play sports. Heck, I love sports almost as much as I love the City of South Milwaukee! These games in particular have been on my mind lately:
1. Pickleball
Above all else, pickleball has been my sport of choice ever since South Milwaukee opened their very own Premier Pickleball Club. Between their state-of-the-art courts and awesome fellow pickle players, these sessions have kept me entertained on these winter (almost spring) days.
2. Basketball
Although I’m South Milwaukee’s number one fan, I’m always ready to cheer on a neighboring team! Recently, I attended the UW-Milwaukee Men’s Basketball game and it was an absolute blast! Not only did I get to hang out with Pounce the Panther, but I also got to meet all of my Sam Fans from out of town. The Panther family is definitely Sam Approved!
3. Hockey
Hockey brings me back to my childhood. Watching the players glide around reminds me of slipping and sliding on the icy trails of the Northwest woods. Lucky for me, the Milwaukee Admirals arena is just a short ways away from South Milwaukee. Join me at Panther Arena on April 13th to celebrate Roscoe’s birthday during the game! Roscoe is a fellow furry friend (yet not quite as hairy as me) who happens to be the Admirals’ very own team mascot. I hope to meet new Sam Fans as we celebrate Roscoe’s special day!
4. Baseball
Baseball season is starting soon and I couldn’t be more excited to start watching America’s pastime again! The Milwaukee Milkmen have not only invited me to their game on August 19th, but have also given me the honor of throwing the first pitch! I know I still have plenty of time, but you might catch me practicing my throw at Grant Park throughout the next few months…
5. Golf
It’s almost that time of year again to play golf with my fellow South Milwaukeeans! Tee time at the Grant Park Golf Course is always epic—they have the best 18-hole course in the midwest! Join me for my first round of the season… if you’re up for the challenge!
