Celebrate Valentine’s Day in South Milwaukee
Love is in the air! Despite the snow flurries and freezing temperatures, my heart is warm this Valentine’s Day. The South Milwaukee community has welcomed me with open arms and made me feel more loved than ever before.
Whether you have a romantic partner, a group of friends, or you’re riding solo, there are plenty of fun ways to spread the love this Valentine’s Day. Here are a few fun ideas:

1. Buy a Bouquet of Flowers
Don’t show up to your date empty handed! Stop by Mari’s Flowers or Parkway Floral to pick out a beautiful bouquet, a box of chocolates, or a small handmade gift for your beloved Valentine. You might even run into me—I’ll be passing out roses to all of my favorite local business owners!
2. Treat Yourself to a Festive Refreshment
It’s no secret that I love a sweet treat—especially when it’s for a special occasion! Our local coffee shop, Better Together Cafe, is stocked with an array of Valentine-themed drinks. They launched a purple Love Potion Milkshake (made with ube and oreo), a Chocolate Covered Strawberry Macchiato (with chocolate cold foam), and a whole lot more indulgent pick-me-ups to choose from. You can also find a variety of seasonal desserts at South Milwaukee’s Bakehouse 23 MKE. My current favorites are the espresso blondies and the cranberry pear pie. Check out these local spots for a Sam Approved holiday treat this 14th!
3. Stroll Through the Snow
I don’t know about you, but there are few things I love more than being out in the fresh air. South Milwaukee is full of natural beauty throughout all seasons—even in the gray days of mid-February. Take a romantic stroll through the snowy paths of Seven Bridges Trail to see enchantingly tall trees and stunning views of the turbulent lake. And if you’re an early riser, you may even be able to watch the sunrise from the top of Grant Park. Don’t forget to bundle up!

4. Dine out for Dinner
This year, Valentine’s Day is on a Friday—that’s the perfect excuse for a date night out on the town! If authentic Mexican food is the way to your heart, check out Azteca Restaurant for the best tacos in town. In the mood for a casual pub experience? Check out The Tap Room or Moran’s Pub. Or, if you’d rather impress your date with a decadent Italian meal, check out Paisano’s Italian Restaurant or Barbiere’s Italian Inn. Oh—and if you happen to order a slice of tiramisu for dessert, save me a seat at the table!
Happy Valentine’s Day, South Milwaukee. This loving community will always be number one in my heart!
