A Samtastic Day in Grant Park

Throughout all four seasons, Grant Park is brimming with tremendous trees and hundreds of acres of color-changing leaves. Located directly along Lake Michigan’s shoreline, this park’s natural beauty is unlike anything I’ve seen in my 107 years of travel.

Lucky for us South Milwaukeeans, Grant Park is right in our backyard. Here’s how to have a Sam-tastic day in the park:

The perfect morning begins with watching the sunrise at Grant Park Beach. Colors of orange, yellow, and pink paint the sky as the sun sparkles over the calm lake. Not too shabby of a way to begin the day.

At the centerpiece of Grant Park is Seven Bridges Trail: a walking path that winds through the park’s ravine. It’s lined with wildflowers, creeks, and enormous native trees that make even ME feel small. If you close your eyes, you can hear birds singing, leaves rustling, and brook water rushing around you.

Of course, Seven Bridges Trail will lead you across a total of seven bridges (hence the name)—each crossing over beautiful brooks that spill out into Lake Michigan.

After a trek through the trail, I like to head back to the shore to lay in the sand, watch my friends play beach volleyball, and sometimes even sail out into the lake’s mild afternoon waves.

The perfect day comes to a close by venturing into town to grab some of my favorite South Milwaukee eats. Here’s a list of the best restaurants, cafes, and taverns located right outside of Grant Park!

Whether you’re playing a round of disc-golf, hopping across river stones, or building awesome sand castles, there are so many hidden gems sprinkled throughout Grant Park. That’s why I made it my new home—every day is filled with adventure.
